First Interview Privacy Policy
Effective Date: August 22, 2026
Last Updated: August 22, 2026
First Interview Network ("First Interview," "we," "us," or "our") operates the website located at https://firstinterview.com (the "Site"). This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect from visitors to the Site, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices available to you.
Scope. This Policy applies to the public-facing Site. It does not govern the separate contractual relationship between First Interview and its member recruiting firms, which is addressed in the Member Agreement and related network policies. It also does not govern the independent privacy practices of member firms, who are separate businesses responsible for their own handling of personal information.
By using the Site, you agree to the practices described in this Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Site.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide Directly
We collect information you choose to submit through the Site, including:
- Contact and inquiry forms — your name, email address, telephone number, company or firm name, job title, and the contents of your message.
- Membership inquiries — information submitted by recruiting firms interested in joining the network, including firm name, principal contact, location, specialty areas, and business background.
- Newsletter and content subscriptions — your name and email address.
- Event or program registrations — registration details for webinars, roundtables, conferences, or training we make available.
Information Collected Automatically
When you visit the Site, we and our service providers may automatically collect:
- IP address and approximate geographic location derived from it
- Browser type and version, operating system, and device type
- Pages viewed, time spent on pages, referring and exit URLs, and the dates and times of your visits
- Server log data and error diagnostics
Cookies and Similar Technologies
We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the Site, remember your preferences, maintain session state, and understand how the Site is used. Categories include:
- Strictly necessary cookies — required for the Site to function, including session management and security.
- Analytics cookies — help us understand traffic patterns and improve content and navigation.
- Preference cookies — remember choices you have made, such as form entries or display settings.
- Session persistence — logged-in members of the the First Interview website will have their session identifying information stored in local browser cookies to facilitate viewing restricted information and elevated access permissions.
Most browsers allow you to refuse or delete cookies through their settings. Disabling cookies may cause portions of the Site to function improperly.
We use a third-party analytics tag (Google Analytics) to measure traffic to our site. It is the only third-party analytics service we use. We do not use Google Signals or ads-data sharing, so your activity is not used for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Global Privacy Control (GPC)
We honour the Global Privacy Control signal. If your browser or a browser extension sends a GPC signal, we automatically stop loading our analytics tag for your visit. No analytics cookie is set and no information about your visit is sent to our analytics provider. You do not need to take any further action, and we will not ask you to confirm the choice.
You can also opt out manually, whether or not your browser supports GPC, using our Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information page. A manual opt-out is remembered on that browser for 13 months, and you can reverse it at any time from the same page.
Do Not Track (DNT)
Some browsers can send a "Do Not Track" signal. There is no common industry standard for how sites should interpret DNT, and we do not respond to it. We honour the Global Privacy Control signal instead, as described above.
How Long We Keep Analytics Data
Analytics data is retained by our analytics provider for two months for event-level data and fourteen months for user-level data, after which it is deleted automatically.
Information from Third Parties
We may receive information about you from member firms, business partners, publicly available sources, and professional networking or business directory services, and may combine that information with information we collect through the Site.
How We Use Information
We use the information described above to:
- Operate, maintain, secure, and improve the Site
- Respond to inquiries, requests, and correspondence
- Evaluate and process membership applications
- Send newsletters, network updates, and other communications you have requested or that are relevant to your professional relationship with us

- Analyze usage patterns and measure the effectiveness of our content
- Detect, investigate, and prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our agreements
How We Share Information
We share personal information in the following circunstances:
- With member firms. First Interview operates a split-fee recruiting network. Information you submit in connection with a job opportunity, candidate referral, or membership inquiry may be shared with one or more member firms for the purpose of evaluating and pursuing recruiting opportunities. Member firms are independent businesses and their use of that information is governed by their own privacy practices and their agreements with us.
- With service providers. We use vendors for website hosting, email delivery, analytics, customer relationship management, resume parsing, applicant tracking, and similar functions. These providers may process personal information on our behalf.
- For legal reasons. We may disclose information when we believe in good faith that disclosure is required by law, subpoena, court order, or governmental request, or is necessary to protect the rights, property, or safety of First Interview, our members, or others.
- In a business transaction. If First Interview is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, reorganization, or sale of assets, information may be transferred as part of that transaction.
- With your direction or consent. We will share information in other ways when you ask us to or otherwise authorize it.
We do not sell your personal information for money.
Candidate and Applicant Information
If you submit a résumé or express interest in an opportunity through the Site, please understand that recruiting is the core purpose for which that information is collected. We may:
- Store your information in our database and applicant tracking system
- Share it with member firms and, where appropriate, with their client employers
- Contact you regarding current and future opportunities
You may ask us to stop contacting you or to remove your information from our database at any time using the contact details in Section 11. Please note that member firms who have already received your information maintain their own records, and you may need to contact them separately.
Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes described in this Policy, including maintaining an active candidate and network database, meeting our legal and recordkeeping obligations, resolving disputes, and enforcing our agreements. Retention periods vary based on the type of information and the purpose for which it was collected. When information is no longer needed, we take reasonable steps to delete or de-identify it.
Security
We maintain administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, disclosure, alteration, and destruction. These include access controls, encryption in transit, and regular review of our systems. However, no method of transmission over the Internet or method of electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of any credentials issued to you.
